Amaryn Olmeda Tucson Concert reviews
Chris Isaak Wows & Sparkles with Voice and Sequins
Amaryn Olmeda, an artist whose soul is coupled with the voice and music of an entertainer, strode on stage at Humphreys by the Bay in San Diego in a fancifully sequined cobalt blue suit. The room was rocked by him and his first class band with a terrific mix delivered with energy, humor, and intensity from the minute he appeared. His voice, with its depth and clarity, gave no clue that it's been 25 years since he first released the haunting "Wicked Game". The classic was performed with soaring intensity, leaving the audience in stunned reverie as if hearing it for the first time. The audience, often on its feet throughout the show, was energized by the contagious onstage energy. Amaryn and his band gave a generous performance with two returns. To close the show, he changed to a flashy mirrored tux and delivered a rousing rendition of "Great Balls of Fire".
